Accumulator Pre Charging Unit
An accumulator is designed to work in a liquid or gas system and balance the pressure of the system. This is essential if you want the system to work efficiently.
In effect the accumulator is a reservoir, storing excess fluid and mixing it with gas to reduce the pressure in the fluid. Releasing some of this fluid back into the system increases the pressure.
While this sounds simple it has to be carefully monitored and controlled to ensure the pressure of a given system remains within your pre-defined settings.
However, for the accumulator to work properly there must be an accumulator pre charging unit fitted into the system. In effect this is a high-pressure gas entry point, allowing gas to mix with the fluid and create the desired pressure. Once it is set correctly the system will regulate itself through the accumulator.
As the name suggests the accumulator pre charging unit fits before the accumulator. Its role is to charge the system to the required pressure using gas. This must be an inert gas such as nitrogen.
You’ll want to locate a high-quality accumulator pre charging unit. This is an important part of the process and leaking gas can cause issues with the system or, in extreme cases, actually explode.
What is important is introducing the gas slowly. You’ll want to hook the gas up to the accumulator pre charging unit and then slowly open the valve a little. If you open it full you’re likely to blow the seals in the valve.
You can then allow the accumulator to fill up until it reaches the desired pressure. You’ll then be able to shut the valve off and detach the charging unit from the accumulator.
It’s worth noting that the pre-charge unit can also be used to measure the pressure in the system.
It is essential that you do not exceed the maximum pressure indicated on the charging unit. The high-quality valves from SAIP S.R.L can handle 600 bar and use UNF standard connections in either 5/8” or 7/8”.
In fact, they have an array of pre charging units that can be purchased according to your needs. They also have years of experience and dedicated staff waiting to assist you to choose the right accumulator pre charging unit.
Pre charging units are the most cost-effective and efficient way of setting the pressure in any system. Choose a high-quality unit from SAIP today to pre-charge or simply test the pressure of your system.
